The Junior League of DeKalb County is having its 21st annual Bargain Bazaar on Saturday – Nov 6 – 2010. Saturday’s hours are 8am – 4pm and Sunday, Nov 7 the hours will be 1pm – 4pm.
Location: First Baptist Church in Decatur at the corner of Commerce & Clairemont.
There will be furniture, home decor, electronics, baby and children’s items, linens, toys, appliances and more from 100 families!
All proceeds will go toward supporting charitable efforts in DeKalb County.

38th Annual Highland Games

Celebrate your Scottish heritage or become a Scot for a day at the 38th Annual Highland Games being held in the Meadow at Stone Mountain Park on October 16 -17, 2010. You can watch the high level of competition in the Scottish athletic games as people compete to win for their clan. Listen to the bagpipes and drums of the pipe bands that will be performing and watch as the dancers compete in the Highland dance competition. Many Scottish shops and tents with Clan and Tartan information will be available as well as games and activities for the children to enjoy.

8th Annual Pumpkin Festival

Celebrate the fall season by coming out to the 8th Annual Pumpkin Festival at Stone Mountain Park going on every weekend for the month of October, 2010. Not only can you enjoy everything Stone Mountain Park has to offer but you can get into the spirit of autumn with the additional activities and decor specific to the season.

Oktoberfest

Organic Gardening Workshop

The Funny Farm will be offering a Fall workshop on Organic Gardening beginning September 12, 2010. The workshop will consist of 4 sessions, 1 a week for 4 weeks. Each class will be on Sunday from 1 to 4 and will be part time in the classroom and part time in the garden. You can purchase tickets for this workshop at Eventbrite.
- Week 1 – Organic Gardening Foundations – Soil Food Web, composting, worm composting and nutrient cycling
- Week 2 – Garden planning- What to plant, When to plant it and How to plant it.

- Week 4 – Incorporating Permaculture Strategies in your garden- Food forests, growing edible mushrooms, edible landscapes, rainwater harvesting
