OktoberfestEnjoy the classic German celebration of Oktoberfest at the Village Corner German Restaurant in Stone Mountain Village on October 9 and 10, 2010. It’s sure to be a great time with live German music and German dancers, German food, beer and wine, a costume contest, many fun kids’ activities and oh, did I mention beer? What’s Oktoberfest without beer? The good time starts at 12 Noon on Saturday til 8 PM and Sunday from 1 PM to 6 PM. Admission and parking are FREE.

Organic Gardening Workshop

Organic GardenThe Funny Farm will be offering a Fall workshop on Organic Gardening beginning September 12, 2010. The workshop will consist of 4 sessions, 1 a week for 4 weeks. Each class will be on Sunday from 1 to 4 and will be part time in the classroom and part time in the garden. You can purchase tickets for this workshop at Eventbrite.

  • Week 1 – Organic Gardening Foundations – Soil Food Web, composting, worm composting and nutrient cycling
  • Week 2 – Garden planning- What to plant, When to plant it and How to plant it.
  • Week 3 – Pest control strategies – putting Mother Nature to work to control insects, diseases and weeds.
  • Week 4 – Incorporating Permaculture Strategies in your garden- Food forests, growing edible mushrooms, edible landscapes, rainwater harvesting
